It’s been a busy week for deep house production brothers Disclosure, who have been building up to the release of debut album Settle next week by dropping new tracks all over the place. Today they’ve opted to reveal the video for ‘When A Fire Starts To Burn’, which features an evangelical preacher whipping his congregation […]
We already know Disclosure’s debut album Settle is going to be one of the best albums of the year thanks to the slickly produced RnB/garage pop singles they’ve been chucking out willy nilly over the last few months. ‘Latch‘, ‘White Noise‘, and ‘You & Me‘ have all made great use of guest vocalists, but now […]
We’re coming up to the end of the year, which means there’s currently a deluge of ‘best of’ lists hitting us from all angles online. I don’t like to dwell too much on picking out the ‘best’ when it comes to albums as to pick one excellent album out as ‘better’ than another seems a […]
Lorde is back who is playing the role of a mistress in her new music video and she is getting really wild in this role. She lets the guy grab her from behind, touch her sensually and eventually she lets him make out with his wife in the next room. The scene in the kitchen […]
My A-Z round up of the new singles available for digital download this week.
A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera – ‘Say Something’
Here’s a slow-paced piano-led ballad that is programmed to pull at your heart-strings and certainly feels like the post-Valentines come down. ‘Say Something’ is a song that you really want to go somewhere but it doesn’t quite build on its initial concept; a huge chorus never really appears. The verse is touching and well balanced between the vocals of the main singer and guest artist Aguilera over some swelling strings and it finally brings a bit more power in the final third. It’ll fit nicely over the touching end of a television drama but not sure how strong it is on its own, but it’s a well meaning tear-jerker if you’re in the right frame of mind. (6.5/10)

I don’t know why I’m surprised, especially after last years very drab Brit Awards. Some part of me had hoped for a bit of excitement and drama this time round, but today’s Brit Awards nomination announcement has well and truly killed that hope. Why, I hear you ask? Because Bastille have the most nominations. During […]
December is traditionally a quiet month, so I was surprised at the amount of quality new music showing up in my Soundcloud ‘Likes’ as I put this playlist together. From the return of Doves’ Jimi Goodwin to brand new Drake, Warpaint, Sam Smith and Broken Bells – December has provided us with some great new […]
Over the past twelve months I have reviewed 752 singles and EPs on my weekly All-Noise single reviews column so hopefully that puts me in a good position to create a best of list for 2013, comprised not necessarily of songs that have sold the most or charted the best, but have been the most […]
My round up of the new singles available for digital download this week. Al Lewis – ‘A Child’s Christmas In Wales’ As we hit the week before Christmas here is the first of many festive-themed songs. Al Lewis’ song is a simple, string-led atmospheric look at the season that revels more in its poetry and […]
