After The Disco

Albums out in February 2014

If January felt a bit slow in terms of big new albums, then February is when 2014 really gets going. There’s big albums out just about every week in February, starting off with the return of Bombay Bicycle Club and Broken Bells on 3 February. The following week sees dubstep-diva Katy B take centre-stage with her highly-anticipated new album Little Red, before Beck and Wild Beasts round off the month with three very different, but all equally promising-sounding, albums.

All of the albums to look out for in February are listed below – let us know what you’re most looking forward to in the comments at the bottom. Read more about Albums out in February 2014

January new music playlist

Listen: January 2014 Playlist – All the Best Music from January 2014 in one handy playlist

Although January tends to be a bit of a depressing month – Christmas is gone, no-one has any money, the weather is dreary etc. etc… – it does have one thing going for it: new music.

January is typically the month where everyone starts the ‘big in 2014’ scramble – so there’s always a lot of cool new music floating around to get into on those dark nights.

I’ve put together the below playlist featuring the best of what’s come out in January, which includes new stuff from BANKS (who is definitely going to be big in 2014), Bombay Bicycle Club (already pretty big I think!), Yuck, Metronomy, James Blake, Blood Red Shoes, Elephant, Blood Cultures and loads more. There’s also a couple of tasty remixes in there as well. Read more about Listen: January 2014 Playlist – All the Best Music from January 2014 in one handy playlist

His partnership with The Shins’ singer James Mercer was no different, but unfortunately their first album as Broken Bells back in 2010 failed to live up to the hype. It wasn’t a bad album, but it wasn’t exactly a stand out moment either. Read more about Album review: Broken Bells – ‘After The Disco’
