Former indie darlings Franz Ferdinand are on the comeback trail in 2013, and are set to release their fourth album Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action next week. We’ve already heard the singles ‘Right Action‘ and ‘Love Illumination’, and you can now stream the album in full over at NPR. The album is released on…
My round up of the new singles available for digital download this week. Alistair Griffin and Leddra Chapman feat. Grimethorpe Colliery Band – ‘The One’ Fame Academy’s Griffin teams up with newbie Leddra Chapman on this ballsy ballad. Though their voices complement each other and there’s a welcome sound from the inclusion of the Colliery…
When it comes to churning out properly British guitar pop, Franz Ferdinand are Britpopping and locking all over the place with single Right Action. A crisp, riff-driven slice of spiky guitars and vocal hooks, Right Action knocks back any worry that Franz Ferdinand’s fourth album will be a moody electronic experiment like their last. Nope,…

With forty songs already covered, let’s get into the top sixty, with numbers 60 through to 41. 60. Bellowhead – ‘Roll The Woodpile Down’ (Released: February, didn’t chart) Around for the best part of a decade, this second single from their ‘Broadside’ album grabbed my attention with its catchy folk-indie-pop vibe that fitted neatly onto…
