YouTube has been the catalyst for the biggest shift in the way we consume music. No longer are we satisfied with the sterile, nicely packaged singles and albums our favourite pop stars hand down to us – we want to see them up close and personal outside of their PR bubble. To that end we […]

The September album release schedule is ridiculously good!
If you’ve been thinking recently that 2013 has been a bit underwhelming so far in terms of big new albums, then September might just put it right. Autumn is generally a good time for new albums, as bands who opted to not release new LPs before the festivals now gear up for a big release […]
Listen: Arctic Monkeys reveal new B-side ‘Stop The World I Wanna Get Off With You’
If this is the calibre of songs that didn’t make the cut for AM, then Arctic Monkeys’ new album should be a bit awesome. ‘Stop The World I Wanna Get Off With You’ is the B-side for their equally saucily-titled new single ‘Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High?’, and it’s a slinky, low […]
Watch: MS MR cover Arctic Monkeys’ ‘Do I Wanna Know?’
Uber-cool Brooklyn duo MS MR covered Arctic Monkeys’ new track ‘Do I Wanna Know?‘ on Radio 1’s Live Lounge Late last night. If you missed it, which I’m assuming most of you did, then you can watch the video of it below: MS MR were on the show promoting their excellent debut album Secondhand Rapture, […]
This Week’s New Single Releases (18th August 2013)
My round up of the new singles available for digital download this week. Alistair Griffin and Leddra Chapman feat. Grimethorpe Colliery Band – ‘The One’ Fame Academy’s Griffin teams up with newbie Leddra Chapman on this ballsy ballad. Though their voices complement each other and there’s a welcome sound from the inclusion of the Colliery […]
Listen: Arctic Monkeys share brand new track ‘2013’
With their new album AM coming up, Arctic Monkeys have treated us all to a new non-album track. Called ‘2013’, it’s a fuzzy psychedelic track similar to ‘Do I Wanna Know?’ and features Alex ruminating on the state of society in 2013 – with the influence of technology at the forefront of his mind. Check […]

Watch: Arctic Monkeys cover Tame Impala’s ‘Feels Like We Only Go Backwards’
You’d be hard pushed to find a better song from the past few years than Tame Impala’s Lonerism stand-out ‘Feels Like We Only Go Backwards‘. It’s so good that everyone from Say Lou Lou to Kendrick Lamar have had a pop at covering it recently. They’ve now been joined by Arctic Monkeys, who recorded an […]

This years Brit Awards nominations are as uninspiring as usual…
I don’t know why I’m surprised, especially after last years very drab Brit Awards. Some part of me had hoped for a bit of excitement and drama this time round, but today’s Brit Awards nomination announcement has well and truly killed that hope. Why, I hear you ask? Because Bastille have the most nominations. During […]
