The Flaming Lips to release Stone Roses cover album on 29 November

American psychedelic veterans The Flaming Lips have revealed they will release their much talked about cover of The Stone Roses eponymous debut album on 29 November – which is the ‘Black Friday’ version of Record Store Day in the US.

There’s been a lot of talk about the cover album in recent months, but little by the way of actual news – so today’s announcement at least means they’re serious about it!

As well as their version of The Stone Roses, the Lips will also release their joint EP with recent tour-mates Tame Impala on 29 November – which features both bands covering each others songs.

As both releases look to be limited to the US, us here in the UK will probably have to wait until they are available online – hopefully they’ll release a stream or something around the time.

Below is a short video of them recording The Stone Roses – which features snippets of ‘This Is The One’, ‘I Am The Resurrection’, ‘I Wanna Be Adored’ and ‘(Song For My) Sugar Spun Sister’ by the sounds of it:
