Glastonbury is officially here – and now that the gates have opened and revellers have begun to pitch their tents thoughts have inevitably turned to what surprises may be in store this year.
Previously the likes of Radiohead, Pulp, Franz Ferdinand and The Last Shadow Puppets have put on surprise performances, so it’s only natural we expect some to happen this year.
When the line-up was announced I was a bit surprised by the absence of Queens Of The Stone Age and Daft Punk – seeing as they both had big albums on the horizon – so it’s no shock that they feature heavily in the rumours. Beady Eye are also strongly tipped to be making an appearance, despite Liam’s recent quotes about ‘never playing Glastonbury again’.
Usual suspects like Radiohead and Pulp are also being mentioned as possible surprise turns, but they seem unlikely to me. My money is on Daft Punk, who will have a taste for gatecrashing festivals after they took over this year’s Coachella with a big screen ad.
Festival organiser Emily Eavis has told the NME that there will definitely be some surprises – so who do you think will make a surprise appearance?
