Roxanne de Bastion

New music round-up

I put a request out on Facebook earlier in the week for some new music tips, and received so many cool new band and artist suggestions that I thought I’d include them all in one place for you to check out.

If you know of any new or unknown bands that deserve a bit more attention, suggest them in the comments below…

Oliver Wilde – ‘Curve’ (Good Grief)

Bristol-based Oliver Wilde is described as an ‘off-kilter recording artist’, and it’s easy to see why from the above. ‘Curve’ (Good Grief) is the first single taken from Wilde’s forthcoming debut album, and is available to download from his Bandcamp page

Maglia Rosa Group – ‘Nighthawks’

‘Nighthawks’ is the title track from Norwich-based quartet Maglia Rosa Group’s debut EP – which you can hear in full on Soundcloud. They’re made up of siblings Daisy and Sam Lawrence, on vocals and guitar/synths respectively, as well as Matt Gadd on bass and Owen Cox on drums

Silent Sleep – ‘You Can Colour Me In’

This single by Liverpool singer-songwriter Silent Sleep (Christopher McIntosh) has been kicking around for a couple of years, and is now set for release as part of his debut solo album Walk Me To The Sea, which is out on 8 April. Find out more about Silent Sleep at Facebook.

Roxanne de Bastion – ‘Red and White Blood Cells’

Big things are predicted of Roxanne de Bastion, who has just recorded her debut album with Gordon Raphael – who has previously worked with The Strokes and Regina Specktor. ‘Red and White Blood Cells’ is the first single off the album, and promises a distinctive and bold debut album. Download ‘Red and White Blood Cells’ at Roxanne’s Bandcamp.

Moriaty – ‘Mindsweeper’

South Devon doesn’t really jump out at you as a hotbed of blues-rock, but new and Moriaty are trying to change that. Their new single ‘Mindsweeper’ is a catchy blast of guitar riffs and attitude, and will soon be available as a free download. For now, check them out on Soundcloud.

PAWS – ‘Sore Tummy’

‘Sore Tummy’ is taken from Glasgow-based band PAWS’ debut album Cokefloat! – which was released last year, and is definitely my next stop after listening to the above! Everything you need to know about PAWS is available from their record labels website, Fatcat Records.

Thanks to everyone who suggested new music for me to hear. Let me know in the comments below if you know of any other great bands I could include in my next round-up…
