Founding member of The Velvet Underground, successful solo star and all-round legend Lou Reed has sadly passed away today aged 71.
The cause of death has not yet been released, but Reed was known to be suffering from ill health following a liver transplant earlier this year.
During his 50-year career, Reed was at the forefront of rock music with seminal New York band The Velvet Underground as well as 20 solo albums. He was also a prolific collaborator and worked with a wide variety of different artists including Gorillaz and most recently Metallica.
Nothing much more to say at this time, other than RIP Lou Reed – a true legend and talent that will be missed.
