Bloc Party’s guitarist Russel Lissack has confirmed the bands first festival dates of 2012 as they gear up for their upcoming ‘comeback’ album after almost three years away.
In message to their fans, Lissack announced the band will be playing in Sweden at the Peace & Love Festival in June and at Germany’s Melt Festival in July. In the statement, the guitarist said:
“Hard to believe it’s been nearly three years since our last show. We’re really excited to announce our first festival appearances for this summer, at which we’ll be debuting material from our forthcoming new album.”
Although no other dates or album release plans have been announced yet, the news will be welcomed by Bloc Party fans who have been fearing the worst since the band went their separate ways to pursue other projects a few years ago – and particularly since recent revelations from singer Kele Okereke that the band were auditioning new vocalists.
