US funk-rock veterans Red Hot Chili Peppers are undergoing something of a revival this year. After confirmation came of their involvement in this weekends SuperBowl half-time show, they have now been announced as headliners for this years Isle Of Wight Festival.
RHCP will be headlining the Saturday night of the festival (14 June), which will be their only UK festival appearance this summer.
Announcing the addition to the festival line-up, organiser John Giddings said:
Finally- we’ve got them! One of the most exciting rock bands of the modern era come to visit… and judging by the performances I have seen previously, will be a highlight in the music history of the festival… Rock the Wight!
The band also released a statement, saying:
To headline the Isle of Wight Festival is a once in a lifetime opportunity, following in the footsteps of Jimi Hendrix and The Doors. When we were offered the slot, we jumped at the chance… it will be our only show in the UK/Ireland this year…so we intend to make it really special.
Red Hot Chili Peppers join Biffy Clyro, The 1975, Calvin Harris and Rudimental on the bill. The updated line up poster is below, with more acts expected to be announced soon. The Isle Of Wight Festival runs from 12-15 June 2014 and tickets are on sale now. Click here for more information on tickets
