Ed Sheeran pretty much owned the charts this year. He claimed the Christmas No.1 single for his “Perfect” single. Yea, it’s a perfect duet and it totally deserved to rule the Christmas. It features Beyonce and has everything you could ask for a cozy romantic track in December.
The single from Ed recent album edged out the competition as it generated over 85,000 sales in the past week. With over 6 million streams, it’s totally awesome that Ed’s getting such a response. I feel it has something to owe to “Perfect Duet” version that was recorded with Beyonce. That version came out on December 1 and served as the necessary fuel to help the track rocket back to No.1 on the UK charts.
But that’s not the only news. After hitting this milestone, Ed Sheeran has also set another chart record and it’s for his third album that climbed back to the top of the charts. It knocked off Eminem’s “Revival” to take the prestigious chart position.
With this recent climb, this album has become the only album by a male solo artist to have spent so many spells at the No.1 spot. That’s the record. No other male solo artist has had that kind of fortune/success with their album. I think Ed not only has a great album in hands but he also promoted it intelligently to break this record. He might not have thought about breaking the record earlier but I think he should throw his fans a party now.
