Lorde has reacted to the call to boycott Israel. The singer withdrew the gig and left a message saying:
“I think the right decision at this time is to cancel the show”.
The reason Lorde canceled this concert is due to the fact that a lot of her fans asked her to do so. It’s a cultural boycott and Lorde has reacted to her fans. The organizers also confirmed through a news in Jerusalem Post that Lorde has canceled the tour. The concert was going to be held at the Tel Aviv Convention Center. The date for the concert was set for June 5th in 2018 during her world tour.
While talking about her decision to support the boycott, she told the press that she received a number of messages and letters from her fans. Apart from these messages, Lorde also discussed the issue with her fans and friends and eventually decided to cancel the show. She further explained that she is an informed young citizen.
“I pride myself on being an informed young citizen, and I had done a lot of reading and sought a lot of opinions before deciding to book a show in Tel Aviv, but I’m not too proud to admit I didn’t make the right call on this one.”
When asked for comments, Lorde or her representatives didn’t make any further comments.
She was also requested to reconsider her concert but Lorde also tweeted in response to such requests. Here is what she said.
“Tel Aviv, it’s been a dream of mine to visit this beautiful part of the world for many years, and I’m truly sorry to reverse my commitment to come play for you. I hope one day we can all dance,”
