Drake promises to release new songs for free before the end of the year

Rapper/singer Drake is still riding high on the back of his excellent 2013 album Nothing Was The Same, and has promised fans he plans to round off a great year with the free release of new material online.

Drake last released raft of new songs on his blog in June, before the release of Nothing Was The Same, and it looks like that’s the plan this time around as well. Talking about his release plans, Drake told Vibe.com:

Not an EP, but maybe a blog thing like how I did ‘Versace,’ ‘The Motion,’ all those in one night. I’ll probably do ‘Trophies’ and three or four other records.

Like a lot of modern day hip hop stars, Drake made his name by giving away music for free – starting with Room For Improvement in 2006, Comeback Season in 2007 and his massive breakout mixtape So Far Gone in 2009. Exactly what his next batch of free new songs will include, other than the Hit-Boy produced ‘Trophies’, is not known yet – but we’ll soon find out.

Tickets for Drake’s UK arena tour in March 2014 are still available for the following dates:

MARCH 2014
11 – Manchester Phones 4u Arena
14 – Sheffield Motorpoint Arena
15 – Glasgow The Hydro
16 – Nottingham Capital FM Arena
20 – Birmingham NIA
22 – Liverpool Echo Arena
24/25 London O2 Arena
