Forget Sinead O’Connor’s open letters, Lily Allen has delivered the best indictment on the music industry’s obsession with body image – via the trusty medium of sarcasm.
With no build up or buzz campaign (not including that Christmas advert she’s on, of course), Allen released the gloriously acerbic ‘Hard Out Here’ today slamming female pop stars who rely on looks and twerking to reach an audience. Sample lyric: “Don’t need to shake my arse for you / ‘Cus I’ve got a brain”.
