Single Review: “Riptide” by Vance Joy

“Riptide” was originally released by Vance Joy in his debut EP named “God Loves You When You’re Dancing” in 2013. This track is also part of Vince Joy’s upcoming debt album. “Riptide”, written and co-produced by Joy himself, has received positive reviews from various music circles for powerful lyrics, energetic vocals, and solid production. The result is a massive hit that is all set to rule charts worldwide after its success in Australia, Vance Joy’s homeland.

Listening to “Riptide” evokes a deep sensual aura inside. He kind of mixes country with deep soul music. This is probably the reason Vance Joy reminds of Paul Kelly in a way. Kelly also had a magical way of bringing sound to spirit.

The track has already received appreciation in Australia before it was released here. It sat in Top 40 singles charts throughout the year. Now it’s making its entry to U.S charts with a positive early response as it sits on #1 spot for Rock Airplay this month. The track also won Apra Song of The Year Award (peer-voted). The music video, directed by Dimitri Basil, is also receiving positive reviews from all circles.
