V Festival

V Festival line-up rumours – Beyonce and Kings Of Leon heavily tipped

UPDATE – the line up has just been announced, click here.

Tomorrow night V Festival organisers will release the full line up for this years festival. If you’re one of the many thousands who have already registered and are waiting on the line up before forking out for a ticket, I’m guessing you’re going to be pretty interested in their announcement.

Predictably, rumours have been swirling about the line up for the past few weeks – and with Glastonbury back from its ‘fallow’ year – it seems the pressure is on for the other ‘big’ festivals to book some very big names. Wireless has Jay-Z and JT, Reading and Leeds moved quickly to confirm Eminem and Biffy Clyro, and T In The Park have built one of their strongest line-ups ever.

So now it’s V’s turn to make a move, and judging by its traditional position as the more pop-focused of the big summer festivals, I’ve listed some of the acts I think will be part of the line up announcement tomorrow. Some of the below have already been mentioned around the net as ‘strong rumours’, others are just my gut feeling. If you’re planning on going to V Festival this year, let me know who you want to be playing in the comments below.

V Festival – rumoured acts

Beyonce – she’s already playing a few dates in the UK this spring, and with a new album rumoured for this year I think she’s a dead cert for a UK festival appearance. Seeing as she’s already headlined Glasto before, this must mean she’ll be at V. Probably.

Rihanna – there’s been strong rumours about Rihanna headlining for the past few months, but if Beyonce is confirmed then I can’t see how Rihanna would fit in on the line-up. If Bey has turned them down though, Rihanna would be the perfect replacement.

Kings Of Leon – these have also got a new album out this year, apparently, and are ready made to be the ‘rock’ headliner to compliment either of the above ‘pop’ headliners.

Lady Gaga – I’ve included Lady Gaga here as there has been a lot of chatter about her playing, but I really can’t see it. Especially as she has a dodgy hip ! You never know, though….

HAIM – there is no other act out there at the minute who are seemingly so perfect to be playing V Festival than the Haim sisters. These must be an absolute shoe-in to be playing somewhere on the bill.

Rita Ora – I think she’s actually confirmed herself that she’ll be playing V and Glastonbury.

Stereophonics – I think these are contractually obliged to play V every year, so there’s no danger of them not being there. Unless organisers think they don’t need them anymore – which is a very real possibility!

The Vaccines – I’ve got a strong feeling these will be playing – don’t know why, I think they just seem the quintessential ‘accessible’ rock band that V loves so much.

Depeche Mode – this is my one ‘out there’ prediction. Again, I’m not even sure why I think they will be playing – it just seems to make sense to see them on a V Festival poster!

The above will probably be completely wrong, but it’s fun to speculate I guess! Let me know your line up predictions in the comments below and we’ll see who gets it right tomorrow!
