Following on the heels of Kanye’s surprise new album Yeezus, Jay-Z last night announced his own Rick Rubin-produced album with a similarly biblical title.
Jay-Z made the announcement in a US TV ad, revealing the album will be called Magna Carta Holy Grail and will be released on 4 July. Whereas Kanye went for the guerilla marketing tactics of beaming songs onto buildings and stuff, Jay-z is well and truly suited up – having already ‘sold’ a million copies of Magna Carta… to Samsung to give away before the official release date. So, basically, the album has gone platinum and earned $5million before it’s even released!
