Super Furry Animals front-man Gruff Rhys has announced he will release his fourth solo album on 5 May in a number of different formats.
Called American Interior, the album is another of Gruff’s concept albums based on an historical figure – this time focusing on a distant relative of his called John Evans. The full story of John Evans can be found on Gruff’s site – to summarise though, he went trekking across the US in 1792 to look for a lost-tribe of Welsh-speaking Native Americans, getting in to a lot of adventures along the way.
Gruff Rhys followed the path taken by his distant ancestor , playing gigs along the route and getting involved in his own madcap adventures – a film of which will form part of the multimedia release of American Interior.
The full release on 5 May will feature a 13-song album, a book/travelogue, a film documenting Gruff’s tour and an app.
