Wolf Alice Blush EP

New music roundup – no. 17

Time for another roundup of exciting new music we can’t get enough of at the minute. If you know any cool new bands that deserve more attention let us know in the comments at the bottom or send your new music tips to [email protected]

Wolf Alice – ‘She’

North London natives Wolf Alice are NME’s current flavour of the month, which usually turns out to be more of a curse than a blessing. Hopefully they can withstand the hype spotlight though, because they do sound promising – as evidenced by ‘She’, which is taken from their debut EP Blush which boasts the naughty cover art above (out now)

SUNBOY – ‘Highway Screamin’

Mixing together the best bits of Britpop, psych-rock and Beach Boys melodies, Colorado duo SUNBOY are already off to a very promising start. Add into the mix quite possibly the best music video of the year and they seem very special indeed. Check out their website to learn more.

Thumpers – ‘Sound Of Screams’

I first featured London duo Thumpers back in April when they were about to release their debut EP. Since then they’ve gone on to sign for SubPop and tour with CHVRCHES, and they’re looking in good shape to be an early 2014 hit when their debut album drops. For now, they’ve shared the below video for new single ‘Sound Of Screams’:

Gentlemen – ‘Children Of The Setting Sun’

Another London-based band for you now in the shape of the mult-national five-piece Gentlemen. They only have two songs on Soundcloud, but the titles – this and ‘Sailor (Of The Cosmic Ark) betray a cerebral, space-y, psychedelic sound. ‘Children Of The Setting Sun’ is the lead track from Gentlemen’s debut EP ‘Night Reels’, which is out on 11 November through Week Of Wonders.

Blood Cultures – ‘Indian Summer’

The latest in a burgeoning line of new artists who are shunning the modern-day practice of revealing all about themselves and their art across social media is mysterious New Jersey producer Blood Cultures, who is letting the awesomely chilled electro-pop track ‘Indian Summer’ do all the talking.
