New Music: Reptar

I’ll be honest, these guys first grabbed my attention because of the cool name (that kind of thing does make a difference when you’ve got an inbox full of new music to work through) – but then I realised they were named after the Rugrats character, which kind of spoiled it for me. Luckily, their music more than makes up for the dodgy name inspiration. Check out the video for ‘Three Shining Suns’ below:

‘Three Shining Suns’ is taken from Reptar’s first album Body Faucet, which is out in the UK on 2 July. Judging by the above, and the couple of album tracks available on Soundcloud (below), the album will be full of infectious melodies and not unlike Vampire Weekend.

Reptar hail from Athens, Georgia (REM’s hometown, pop pickers) and are currently on tour in the US of A. They are:

Graham Ulicny – Vocals / Guitar

William Kennedy – Keyboard

Ryan Engelberger – Bass

Andrew McFarland – Drums
