New Strokes album given name and March release date

The Strokes have finally released details of their forthcoming fourth album.  As previously reported at All-Noise, the recording process of the album has been rumoured to be strained – but now it seems the band are happy with it and have announced it wil be released on 22 March.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, the New York five-piece also announced the new album is likely to be called Angles – with guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. explained the choice of title:

“It’s what the record sounds like, it comes from five different people.”

Indeed, this is the first Strokes album to feature song-writing credits from every member of the band – with singer Julian Casablancas in charge of most of the song-writing duties previous to this.  Guitarist Nick Valensi suggested this was the reason for the slow and fractious recording process:

“This is the first one where we are truly working democratically. It’s taken a long time because this is a new model for us.”
