Glastonbury line-up announcement – Nas, Disclosure and AlunaGeorge confirmed for new dance area

Glastonbury Festival organisers today announced the first notable acts confirmed to play at this years festival.

US rapper Nas, new electro wunderkinds Disclosure and London RnB duo AlunaGeorge are amongst a host of acts lined up to play the ‘reborn’ dance area of the festival this June. Now renamed ‘Silver Hayes’, after one of the oldest meadows on Worthy Farm, the dance area will now feature three stages – called Sonic, the Wow Stage and the Gully.

Here’s what the Eavis’ had to say about Silver Hayes:

Emily:

I’ve always thought that the closest parallel with Glastonbury is Notting Hill Carnival, and the buzz around this rebirth is exactly what we were looking for, both musically and visually. There’s going to be a lot of incredible music from all around the world.

Michael:

Malcolm (Haynes, Dance Village Co-Ordinator) turned up with an after hours rave truck in the 1980s and he’s been going hard at it ever since. Now he’s conjured up a new vision for one of the most beautiful areas of the farm, which will be brilliant.

Some of the other acts confirmed today include Hot Natured, David Rodigan, Sub Focus and Rudimental.

We’re still waiting for the big announcement about who will be playing Glasto this year, and especially who will be headlining. There’s currently some pretty strong rumours about Arctic Monkeys headlining, and The Rolling Stones and David Bowie headline rumours refuse to go away. Who do you think will/should play this years Glastonbury…?
