Glastonbury rumours

Update – 26 June: Looks like the earlier reports of Coldplay opening Glastonbury on Friday morning were a bit premature, as the slightly more boring Kaiser Chiefs have now apparently been ‘officially’ confirmed as the TBA act on The Other Stage tomorrow.

Coldplay rumours are still circulating though, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see them making some kind of appearance over the weekend. Likewise The Libertines have also been the subject of some plausible-sounding rumours.

Keep checking back for the latest rumours, I’ll keep this post updated as much as possible. If you’ve heard any rumours yourself share them in the comments below…

It has become something of a tradition at Glastonbury to leave a slot open on Friday morning on The Other Stage and fill it with a surprise big name. Last year I was ‘treated’ to a performance by Beady Eye – just what you need to wake you up after a terrible nights sleep in a tent!

With the festival gates opening and revellers beginning to get set up and ready for a weekend-long party, rumours have started to swirl that this year’s ‘TBA’ act on The Other Stage is none other than Coldplay.

With a new album recently released and no other conflicting tour dates, it seems like this rumour could well gather steam in the next 24 hours or so.

The rumour started over on the Efestivals site, with a forum post saying:

Friend of mine has asked two seperately security guards and got the same answer apparently. Also [Coldplay] have been spotted at a hotel 30 mins from site.

The rumour has since been posted onto Reddit, so it’s starting to get ‘out there’ – which means if it’s not true it will probably soon be officially ruled out by festival organisers.

I’ll keep this post updated as and when any extra info becomes available….
